Ecole Kenwood PTO – Le Bulletin v2
This week at Ecole Kenwood
Don’t miss the Ecole Kenwood Open House on Wednesday, September 19, 6-7 PM. This event is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and the staff, as well as learn about about important programs. Also, learn how one family saves thousands of dollars each year AND makes money for the school via Kenwood Kash!
It’s Hot Dog Hoedown time again – Friday, September 21, 6-7:30 PM. This fun-filled evening, filled with entertainment, friends and food, is a great chance to meet and mingle with other Ecole Kenwood families and teachers. The small cost for all this fun is $3/child, $5 per adult with a maximum of $20/family. We are still looking for volunteers to provide desserts for this event. If interested, please contact Erin Stamper at KenwoodPTOVP@gmail.com.
Also at Hot Dog Hoedown, we will be collecting books for the Ecole Kenwood Book Cart. For each new or gently used book that you donate, you will be entered in a raffle for several gift cards. The Book Cart is an great service and offers students a chance to get books that they can take home and keep. So, take a minute to clear your kid’s shelves of books they no longer read and pay it forward for a great cause!
Whole Foods National Volunteer Week
The week of September 24-30 is National Volunteer Week at Whole Foods Market. Our local Whole Foods Market at the Shops at Lane Avenue has graciously designated Ecole Kenwood as the beneficiary of its efforts. They are planning on providing some much-needed landscaping on the school property. Whole Foods is providing the labor, but they needed donations as follows: hostas, mums, bulbs, soil, other perennials and/or cash to buy supplies. Any questions or cash donations can be directed to Patti Ricker, lead latchkey teacher. Drop off any other donations at school by September 24 (check with office on where to leave these).
French Classes for Adults
Trying to keep up with our little francophones can be difficult! Amy Overmyer (Evelyn – K, John – 2) is teaching adult Basic French classes at the Upper Arlington Senior Center on Thursday nights from 7-9:00 PM. Learn basic French language skills and get a better understanding of French culture. For more information and to enroll, go toUpper Arlington Lifelong Learning Division
Student Directory reminder
If you have not turned in your Student Directory Form, it’s not too late. This directory is a great resource to connect with other Ecole Kenwood families. Please turn the completed form into your teacher or to the office no later than Monday, September 24.
New Building Updates
A recent article in The Dispatch outlined a new proposed plan for the future location of Ecole Kenwood. The plan now is to no longer combine French and Spanish immersion into one building, and instead each will get their own building. The plan proposed that Kenwood will be rebuilt in its current location. Our students will be moved to an unidentified school building while the construction is occurring. This plan has not yet been approved by the school board. Read all about it here.
New PTO Officers
Congratulations and thanks to Erin Stamper who ran for and was elected as Kenwood PTO Vice President at the last PTO meeting. Also at the last meeting, Ryan Landi and Andrea O’Carroll were elected as Kenwood PTO Co-Presidents.
